Synopsis

'Milk' is the true story of a man often called "the gay man's Martin Luther King". Harvey Milk (Sean Penn) was the first openly gay American to be elected to major office. We follow him from a New York of business, theatre and secrets to a new life of politics, love and the gay rights movement in San Francisco. Along the way he picks up his fair share of enemies. One of whom will take his prejudice to an extreme conclusion.

This week we celebrate LGBT History Month with one of 2009's big Oscar winners. Dustin Lance Black's original script won Best Screenplay and Sean Penn picked up his second little golden statue as Best Actor. This is a moving story about an inspirational man whose courage helped to change America.
