Synopsis

In 1974, a policeman arrested a man he knew had committed a crime. He just wasn't sure which one. So on the arrest report he wrote, 'Man on wire'. This is the film of that crime. It is also the beautiful and astonishing story of French wire walker, Philippe Pitit, and the people who loved and supported him as he literally took wire-walking to new heights. Watch this remarkable, though deeply flawed, man as he walks, lies, kneels and dances on a wire strung between the two World Trade Centre buildings.

James Marsh's Oscar winning documentary transports us to a world where anything is possible. He shows the fear and the thrills, the passion and the absolute intensity of wire walking and the profound impact that this incredible act had on each and every one of them. Perhaps most powerful of all is the ever present, though never mentioned knowledge that the twin towers are no more.
